Leonard
Sexton
Leonard was born and educated in Dublin and gained a Diploma in Painting
from Dublin Institute of Technology. He studied under Patrick
Graham, one of Ireland’s most renowned contemporary painters.
He taught for some years after graduating before embarking on
a career which has seen him develop his own distinctive and very
physical style, and create a following which resulted in several
sell-out exhibitions. Influenced by Balthus and Giacometti, Leonard’s
female figuratives and the landscapes of his native Skerries are
receiving increasing interest.
He exhibits at a number of Dublin galleries including the Blue
Leaf Gallery, the Bridge Gallery, the Waldock Gallery, and in
Kerry at the Greenlane Gallery.
