Patricia
Millns
Patricia studied art with Kathleen Bridle in Ulster and at the Ulster College
of Art and Design. She gained an Honours Degree in Fine Art painting
and a Masters Degree in Art and Design History before travelling
in the Middle East. Early studies brought her under the influence
of Celtic Art and its strong use of calligraphy and iconographic
imagery. This, coupled with the exoticism and non-representational
tradition found in Islamic Art, has informed her work over the
past twenty years.
Her work can be seen in prestigious public and private
collections worldwide, including The British Museum, the Royal
Commonwealth Society, the British Council, the Sainsbury Foundation,
the United Nations, the Birmingham Art Gallery, the Chelsea Arts
Club, Sharjah National Museum, the Kuwait National Collection,
the Royal Collection of Jordan and the Cultural Foundation of
Abu Dhabi and UNIFEM New York.
Patricia was elected to the Alliance of Women Artists
USA in 1995 and the International Association of Professional
Artists, UNESCO in 1999. Registered in the Encyclopedia of Women
Artists in 1996, she was elected as a member of the Omani Society
of Fine Arts in 2000 and an Associate of the Societé Nationale
des Beaux Art in Paris in 2001.
